Machias Elementary School

NAC Architecture among Architect magazine’s Top 50 FirmsIn their fifth annual ranking, Architect magazine recently announced the top 50 architecture firms in the United States, with NAC Architecture listed 45th. Firms were ranked in business, sustainability and design categories. This was a particularly outstanding year for us in the sustainability category, having been ranked 18th out of the 152 firms that qualified to participate in the ranking. NAC Architecture designed over 80% of our work in 2012 to LEED standards.

Helena L. Jubany, FAIA

Helena L. Jubany Elected to the College of Fellows of The American Institute of ArchitectsHelena L. Jubany, Managing Principal of NAC's Los Angeles office, has been elected to the College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects. Helena was elevated to Fellowship in the Institute based on her contributions to the advancement of the profession and her leadership in the civic and philanthropic realms. Helena currently serves as the President of Commissioners for the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety Board. She also serves as Chair of the Board of A Community of Friends (ACOF), a non-profit organization focused on housing the mentally ill homeless. She is currently the Vice Chair of the Design Control Board for Marina Del Rey and a member of the Mayor of Los Angeles Food Policy Council. In the past, she served as President of the Asian American Architects/Engineers Association for two years and as a Board Member for the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles Chapter. In addition to serving on many boards, committees, and councils to address public issues and needs, Helena has served for the last 13 years as an Adjunct Professor at Woodbury University and was a member of the Consultancy Board at the University from 1996 to 2005.

Benewah Medical Center, Plummer, Idaho

Benewah Medical Center Wins Masonry Design AwardNAC Architecture’s design of the Benewah Medical Center won an Honor Award in the 2013 Robert Fraser Excellence in Masonry Design Awards. Sponsored by the Masonry Industry Promotion Group, the awards program recognizes outstanding projects in eastern Washington, central Washington and north Idaho as selected by a jury of architect peers. Benewah Medical Center in Plummer, Idaho, features masonry to respond to the unique, natural beauty of this tribal land, and the permanence innate to masonry aligned well with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s goal to provide a lasting image.

Jeani Natwick

Jeani Natwick Joins Vaness Behan Crisis Nursery BoardJeani Natwick, NAC Architecture Principal and Healthcare Planner, has joined the Board of Trustees for Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery in Spokane. Established in 1987, the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery improves the lives of children by providing immediate refuge and safety and ongoing family support in an environment of unconditional love, offering 24-hour emergency care, parent education and crisis counseling.

Long Beach Unified High School #2

New Long Beach Unified High School Design HonoredNAC Architecture’s design of the Long Beach Unified High School #2 recently received an Award of Merit in the Project-in-Design Category of the 2013 C.A.S.H./AIACC Leroy F. Greene Design + Planning Awards Program. Presented by the Coalition for Adequate School Housing and The American Institute of Architects, California Council, the awards program is organized to enhance the educational programs available to California public school students by recognizing exceptional architectural and program implementation in the design of public school facilities.Read more

Ardmore Elementary School

NAC Architecture School Designs Published InternationallyHong Kong publisher, Hi-Design International, recently released its K-12 Educational Architecture book featuring designs from around the world. We are proud to have three NAC projects represented in this beautiful coffee-table book, including Ardmore Elementary School, Machias Elementary School and Deer Park High School. Ardmore and Machias were featured on the front and back covers.

John Eckert

John Eckert Elected to AIA Washington Council Board of DirectorsThe American Institute of Architects Washington Council has a new board of directors for 2013, including John Eckert, AIA, representing the Spokane Chapter. John also serves as the 2013 President of AIA Spokane. At NAC Architecture, he is currently Project Manager of the Rockwood Retirement Communities Summit Tower, the Columbia Basin Hospital Addition and Renovation, and the recently completed Benewah Medical Center. Additionally, John volunteers as a Webelos Cub Scout Den leader.
