Janica Baker, AIA, LEED GA
Associate Principal
NAC is first and foremost a collection of individuals who care about their community, and actively engage in it. We made face masks with our 3D printers for front-line and essential workers. We participate in mentorship programs for elementary and high school students. We are graduates of school districts that we now do projects in. The work we do at NAC has a direct positive impact on the communities we love most dearly. This is what motivates me to do my work every day.
Janica is a strong advocate for understanding the “why” of every project. Used as a design strategy, the first response establishes the core idea driving the design, with each subsequent response supporting that core vision. She believes the most innovative work comes when the “why” is informed by diverse perspectives. Janica leads the design process by prioritizing team relationship building, group collaboration, and transparent knowledge sharing. With every project, her focus is on effective and inclusive education and wellness space design. Janica is also skilled at master planning, conceptual design, scoping document development, thorough construction planning, and project close-out. In her personal time, she works with non-profit organizations that provide mentorship opportunities and scholarships to architecture, engineering, and construction students.
