The Kittitas Valley Memorial Pool was originally constructed in 1978. The facility had been well maintained during its 30 plus years of operation and was in relatively good condition for its age. However, the NAC Architecture team found the HVAC equipment serving the natatorium to be in need of immediate replacement. The chiller used for dehumidification had failed and, without this chiller, moisture had begun to cause noticeable damage to other components of the building. NAC Architecture worked with the City of Ellensburg to determine a scope of work and then developed bid documents for replacement of the mechanical and electrical systems. Other repairs and improvements to the facility included replacement of problematic doors and windows and deteriorated components of the exterior envelope. With careful planning, the down time for the facility during construction was minimized and the pool is now back in service for the community.
