Yellowstone Hall

Montana State University

Bozeman

Montana State University's first freshman residence hall built in half a century, Yellowstone Hall, earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Nationally recognized for its energy-efficient and sustainable design, the 120,000-square-foot residence hall was designed in collaboration by NAC Architecture and SMA Architects. Sustainability was a design priority, including features such as a building layout that maximizes southern exposure to make use of winter sunlight to push down heating costs, a "solar wall" intended to use solar energy to pre-heat hot water, undercover bicycle storage, and more.
