This exciting urban location was regarded by NAC Architecture as an exceptional opportunity to create very distinctive interiors. The 117,700-square-foot retirement community has 115 independent and assisted-living apartments in various configurations with many amenities. The spaces include the lobby/living room, library, bistro/wine bar, restaurant-style dining room, private dining room for special occasions, activity/game room, movie theater/meeting room, spa, wellness center, salon and barber shop, and roof terraces. NAC Architecture created the interiors and provided the furniture selections for this forward-looking project.
The contemporary community is unique in that the common spaces comprise a single, large, high-volume, open area – divided only by furniture placement and low planter walls. It functions more dynamically as a gathering place for the residents than the traditional design of separate rooms. Residents enjoy the fact that they can be in the social hub without necessarily being engaged in the activity. The private dining room features a mural of nearby, historical Juanita Beach, integrating the senior community with the town’s traditions.
