Rockwood at Hawthorne, a senior living campus that has served northern Spokane for over 20 years, is undergoing a transformation to provide the most innovative senior living experience in the Inland Northwest. The envisioned campus, called Rockwood at Whitworth, will consist of a partnership with nearby Whitworth University, where senior residents will have the ability to attend classes, music and theater performances, church activities, and NCAA sports events. On the other end, Whitworth students will be able to obtain employment and internship opportunities through the partnership, gaining valuable experience on the Rockwood campus. The new campus will promote a culture of lifelong learning and intergenerational community.
Expected to be completed within three years, the four-story, two-building project, totaling roughly 420,000 square feet, will be connected with about 30,000 square feet of community space on the bottom floor and will host 120 independent-living units, 48 assisted-living units, and 24 memory care units. Amenities that will be integrated throughout the residential environment include: a central dining room, chapel/multipurpose room, fitness and aerobics space, bistro, business center, theater, and salon.
