Principal
In working on educational projects, I am excited to have more resources available than ever before. We use technological tools and research data to study a variety of design factors, including daylight, material performance, acoustics and the effects of the built environment on learning. Recent interdisciplinary developments have provided a wealth of additional perspectives, from psychology to computational fluid dynamics. These perspectives inform the daily decisions that we make with our clients and the end result is better-performing buildings for the communities they serve. I enjoy bringing the best possible practices to problem-solving, coupled with the creative design process and great working relationships on each project.

Philip serves as NAC's PK-12 Practice Leader and he is the Pacific Northwest Region Director of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE). Through this involvement, he has developed deep knowledge about current teaching and learning theory to inform the educational planning and design on his projects. As a gifted architect who thrives on technical challenges, he is an expert at realizing sustainability and accommodating special populations in school planning and design. He has lectured on related subjects at A4LE, the WELL Symposium and the Green Schools National Conference. Philip is an Accredited Learning Environment Planner and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Boston Architectural College.
