Revitalizing a Historic Icon
Earlier this year, NAC celebrated the re-opening of a historic Spokane icon: the Riverfront Park Looff Carrousel Facility. With origins in 1909, the Looff Carrousel is one of the country’s most beautiful and well-preserved hand-carved wooden carousels, and it needed a new home. The new 12,300-square-foot facility includes an event space with catering kitchen, concessions, gift shop, an expanded observation and queuing area, and space for exhibits that highlight the ride’s fascinating history. The design of the facility maximizes the public’s experience at Riverfront Park. Carousel riders can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding river and park, and increasing its external visibility, drawing park visitors toward this amazing artifact.
