Aultman's Timken Family Cancer Center
Canton, Ohio
Designed by NAC to foster hope and fortify the dignity of patients, the Aultman Hospital’s Timken Family Cancer Center facilitates a holistic patient-centered model of care. By consolidating cancer-care services under one roof, this facility eases the burden put on patients who previously had to navigate multiple buildings and sites during their treatment journey. Patients can access treatment, complete labs, meet with physicians, receive infusions, and pick up medications all in one harmonious location, allowing them and their families to focus solely on recovery.
Extensive early workshops with patients, caregivers, staff, and community members informed the design of this 71,000-square-foot addition and renovation. To leverage the therapeutic benefits of biophilia, the facility is organized so that all treatment bays are oriented toward views of the gardens surrounding the facility. Patients have the option to choose from a variety of infusion settings based on preference and stage of care. Generous indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the center provide opportunities for reprieve during long and frequent visits. The new Timken Family Cancer Center elevates and streamlines patient access to care, bringing hope and healing to the cancer care journey.
