Quincy Valley Medical Center Replacement Hospital
Quincy, Washington
Quincy Valley Medical Center reflects the values, heritage, and resilience of its rural community. Rooted in Quincy’s regional landscape, the new hospital brings modern healthcare close to home, creating a place where patients feel welcome, staff feel supported, and the community sees its identity reflected in every detail.
At its heart, the design answers a critical challenge: how to provide state-of-the-art care in a rural setting while keeping patients connected to their community. Designed by NAC with close collaboration from staff and community, the building blends dignity, compassion, and familiarity, making care approachable and accessible. Providing eight inpatient rooms, a physical therapy department, rural health clinic, emergency department, diagnostic services, and a wound care department, the new patient-centered healthcare facility expands access to essential care. Locating these services close to home helps patients receive treatment sooner—improving outcomes and reducing the need to travel long distances for care.
Every design decision reinforces the hospital’s deep connection to Quincy’s identity. Sunlight filters through expansive windows, bringing views of farmland, trees, and basalt formations into patient rooms and public spaces. Natural textures—stone, wood, and warm finishes—echo the surrounding landscape and foster a sense of calm. Open and welcoming entries foster comfort and connection, while inclusive community spaces extend the hospital’s role as a gathering place.
For caregivers, the hospital supports well-being and efficiency through thoughtful operational planning. Decentralized nursing stations, pre-stocked supply servers, and clear wayfinding streamline daily tasks, allowing staff to focus more energy on patients. Adaptable care environments and intuitive layouts maximize resources, reduce travel distances, and enhance responsiveness. Respite areas, including sleeping pods, offer moments of rest in demanding shifts. Designed with future growth in mind, the 48,694 SF facility is flexible and ready to expand as Quincy attracts more medical providers.
Quincy Valley Medical Center is built to endure, to heal, and to serve as a community anchor for generations. It reflects the spirit of Quincy—strong, welcoming, and deeply connected to the land—while delivering modern, compassionate care where it matters most: home.
